Hempel Olympic Antifoul is an economical, TBT-free, self-polishing and IMO 2003-compliant antifouling. This revolutionary paint contains fibres that provide efficient mechanical strength and improve polishing control. OLYMPIC thus ensures optimum protection under normal fouling conditions.
Olympic antifoul is great for any vessel up to 25 knots boatspeed.
A great antifoul for cruising boats in NZ waters. Lots of good feedback on this antifoul. Everybody that uses it rates it very highly.
Comes in 2 grades:
The standard grade for low use vessels
Slightly harder grade for high use vessels
Hempel olympic can be applied over other self polishing antifouls, ablative antifouls and hard antifouls if existing is in good condition. Existing antifoul in flakey condition might need spot priming or a complete tie coat to provide good adhesion for hempel olympic antifoul
For a tie coat you can use: single pack underwater primer / 2 pack hempel tie coat or hempel light primer.
(self polishing) antifoulings have a resin system packed with active ingredients to repel/discourage fouling growth, once immersed the resin breaks down in a controlled manner, continually exposing a fresh layer of biocide to the water. This provides consistently good performance throughout the sailing season and reduces the build up of old antifouling on the hull.
Thinners: Hempel 808 thinners
It is always good practise to do an extra coat over high wear areas like boot top, leading edges, rudders and keels
